Kevi came up to Des Moines for his bachelor party a few weeks ago. He and Aaron both got here on Thursday so we hung out at Dereks for a while that night. Friday night Derek and Kari hosted a small party for everyone to hang out with Kevi. We had a good time hanging out at the unfinished bar and watching Jackass 2. Saturday was the start of the bachelor party day. We went out to Action Jacks and played paintball for a couple hours. My gun broke during the first game so I did some emergency repairs and got it working enough I could still play. That night we met up at Court Ave. Brewery for dinner and ran around downtown all night. We checked out Liars Club which a really nice place and, I think, just what downtown needs to attract more people. Around 2am we decided we really wanted pizza and Big Tomato wasn't too far to walk (18 blocks). Aaron found a case of beer on the street so the walk wasn't too bad.
Last Friday night Derek and I went out for Lukes birthday. We met up at a bar to take a limo to Appare Japanese Steakhouse for sushi. We had great sushi, a great hibachi chef, and terrible service. When we were getting ready to leave we had to go find our server, who was washing dishes when we found him, and form a line at the cash register to pay. weak.
Trent, Derek, Nick, Luke, and I got invited to play on a full ice broomball team next season. The new team name is going to be The Shams. We entered the Des Moines Broomball Tournament and got our asses kicked and I found out that they use the mercy rule during tournaments. Most of our team had never played full ice and we were playing teams from Minnesota who had to just won national tournaments in our division. We lost our first game 0-8 with the mercy rule. The lost our second game 1-7 w/o the mercy rule! We then lost our third game 0-8 with the mercy rule. We held them off as best as we could and learned a lot. Next season we should be pretty decent.
