Last Thursday Iowa had another bad winter storm so I left work around 11am and worked from home the rest of the day. On Friday morning I was like a 10yr. old waiting to hear if we were having a snow day. Pioneer Hi-Bred Metro Offices Closed. w00t! What a great start to a weekend. That night Derek and Kari came by the house for a while to hang out. Saturday we were going to go snowboarding with Derek and Kari at Seven Oaks in Boone, IA so Amy and I were scrambling to find someone that still had snow pants for sale. We decided to check Walmart as a last resort. Right as we were heading out Derek called me to let me know that the weather was still bad up North and the trip for Saturday was off. Amy and I headed over to West Des Moines to look at Scheels for snow pants and I picked up a snowskate. We went home and played in the snow behind our house. That night we went downtown to see some of Lukes show at the mews and went to Mindys new office open house. She got a seriously nice loft right in the middle of downtowm Des Moines. 2200 sq. ft. with windows on all 4 sides. crazy. On Sunday the snowboard trip was back on. We headed up to Boone around 11am and played for about 4 hours. Amy and I started out on the learning hill for a while and got some instructions since it was our first time snowboarding. We both picked up on it eventually and were hitting some of the bigger hills before the day was over. It was a ton of fun, definitely want to go back next winter. We also had broomball that night. I was so tired when we got there. We played The Lexingtons again with a really tight scoring game right until the end. There was about 20 seconds left in the game and both teams were playing really hard. The ball got back down to our end and everyone was gathered around the front of the goal. The ball popped out of the mess of people with :01 seconds left and Fred managed to pop it up into the top of the goal. 3-2 we win! Seriously awesome ending to a game.
