Christmas 2005

This Christmas was really weird. This was the first year that Amy and I didn't have an entire month off from college to see family and do the Christmas thing. We didn't get to head home until Christmas day because Amy was working Saturday night. We had to fit about 4 family get togethers into 2 days so we could get back to Des Moines because we both had to be back to work. On Sunday we got home around noon and went to have lunch with Amy's family and open presents. Then we went to my moms house for a while and saw some of my family and opened presents. We then went to my dads house to have dinner and open presents. Then on Monday my dad, my brother, and I went to Galesburg real quick in the morning to get some coffee and get some phone numbers to get our wedding cake ordered. I then had to get to Amy's other grandparents house for lunch. We ate and then opened presents. I had to leave early so my brother and I could get over to see my grandma and grandpa. After that i dropped off my brother and met Amy at her moms house for chili. I then went back to my dads house and we watched Samurai Fiction and had martinis and I relaxed.

Luckily on Tuesday Amy had found someone to cover her on-call day so we didnt have to leave at 5am. We headed home around 9am and got back to Johnston around 12:30. I headed straight to work at 1. So crazy! I was glad to be back at work and relax for a minute.

Hopefully next year we can manage to get more time at home to see more people for a little longer than a couple hours. Other than the short visits with people Christmas was really nice. I got a new digital camera, a power drill, a travel martini set (for those long car trips :) ), some clothes, Call of Duty 2, and some books. I also bought a paintball gun with my Christmas money.
