new cassette
posted by: Zach Larson on 01-18-2038
last week i was on the way out of town on my bike heading towards Bushnell. its a good 30-40 mile ride i think. i get right outside of town and "POP!" my chain snaps in half. so i walk all the way back home. i was passed by about 7 trucks w/ empty truck beds (if i had a truck i would have picked me up!). anyway two days later i go to the bike shop i work at and replace the chain. well i found out that over times chains stretch and it had worn away some of the teeth on my old cassette. i went trail riding today and everytime i had to climb a hill or put any hard pressure on the cassette it would skip so i immediately went to the bike shop and was like wtf. so this afternoon i learned how to replace a cassette. i put a SRAM 5.0 cassette on, its nice though, everything is running a lot smoother now.
