painting brewing skating

Amy and I decided it was time to paint our bedroom. Amy decided on a olive green so we got up early Saturday morning and got some paint, supplies, and I got the rest of the molding i needed to finish the floors. We spent a good part of the day getting the first coat of paint on. We went down to Valley Junction to go to Heartland Home Brew so I could get some supplies to brew some beer. This was the first batch I have made from scratch. (not with a kit, I made this batch from a recipe book but had to get my own ingredients.) Saturday night I started brewing and finished up around 10:30pm.

On Sunday Amy had to work all day so I put on the last coat of paint, cut and stained the molding for the floor, checked on my beer, and went downtown to skate. The paint went on much better than the office paint and turned out pretty nice. The molding is all cut for the floor now I just need to attach it. The brewing was crazy. I normally use dry yeast for the brewing because thats what would come with the kit but this time the recipe called for liquid yeast. I cannot believe the difference in activity. I thought the top of my fermenter (white bucket) was going to explode. It was bulging and hissing around the edges and the airlock kept getting clogged. I eventually had to remove the air lock and just run a hose into a glass of water to allow the clumps of foam, hops, and air to escape. Sunday night things finally calmed down and I could put the original air lock back on. After this batch is bottled I am going to make a pumpkin ale and hopefully have it done by Halloween. I am also going to get a glass carboy for that batch.
