Yesterday I was home for lunch because Amy took the week off so I have been home for lunch this week. I had just finished eating and was sitting on the couch drinking some Diet Coke and I felt this pressure in my chest like I was going to burp. The last thing I remember was leaning back on the couch because my chest hurt. I guess at that point I had a seizure from something. Then all of a sudden it felt like I woke up from a deep sleep. I didnt know what day or time it was and Amy was just staring at me saying, "Are you ok?!?!". I had no idea what happened. She said my eyes were wide open and I kicked the coffee table and spilled everything sitting on it. I was also shaking. I felt fine about 5 minutes afterwards. Amy called her mom and she said I should go to the hospital. We got in the car and headed to the hospital. I started to feel like I was going to have another seizure and Amy was freaking out so we pulled over on I-80 and an ambulance came to get me and took me the rest of way. They got me all hooked up with an IV and checked all my vital signs. It was my first ride in an ambulance and hopefully my last. I got to the ER and they did a bunch of tests. They checked my blood, vital signs, and I had a CT scan of my head. Everything looked ok but I have to go to a neurologist next week to make sure I'm alright.



Scary.

UPDATE:
I went to the doctor this morning for a consultation before proceeding with an EEG or MR test. He asked me the same questions I've answered a million times now and did the same basic tests. He told me that I didn't have a seizure. He said there is a nerve that goes from the stomach to the heart and when I was drinking the Coke for lunch and tried to burp it triggered that nerve. It made my heart drop my blood pressure which cause me to pass out and show the signs of a seizure. I guess when you have a seizure the blood pressure increases whereas mine dropped. I am still going in for an EEG and MR test on the 25th just to be safe but everything looks good!

UPDATE AGAIN:
The doctor called me today (10/30/2007) after lunch to let me know that my test results all came out ok. I had an appointment to go in and talk to him about it tomorrow morning but he told me that it wouldnt be necessary. YESSSS!!!
